Joomla structure confusing

All popular CMS have a clear structure. You know what is a module or block. But Joomla 1.5 has components, modules, mambots and extensions. Joomla-blocks / boxes called modules and I still dont know the difference between components and extensions. I think this is a reason why many profis prefer Drupal or Typo3 etc.
